Working as a Behavior Analyst in Alabama
Alabama requires a state license to practice as a behavior analyst, and the agency that handles it just changed. As of June 1, 2026, the old peer-run Alabama Behavior Analyst Licensing Board was restructured by SB113 into the Alabama Behavior Analyst Advisory Council, a 7-member group (at least 4 must be licensed BCBAs) that now only advises. Actual licensing authority sits with the Alabama Department of Mental Health and its Commissioner.
