Who Is Hiring RBTs in Arkansas

Most active employers (RBT roles): SpringBoard ABA, KIDS ABA Services, BlueSprig, Arkansas Children’s, Unity Health.

Busiest hiring cities: Little Rock, Conway, Cabot, Fort Smith, Bentonville.

Where RBT wages come from: Arkansas Medicaid pays $15.00 per 15 minutes for the technician-delivered treatment code (CPT 97153) — $60.00 of billable revenue per clinical hour. Your wage, the BCBA’s supervision, benefits, no-shows, and overhead all come out of that number. Higher-rate states can simply pay technicians more — see the Arkansas Medicaid ABA rate table.

Becoming a Billable Technician in Arkansas

If you want to get paid for ABA sessions in Arkansas, one credential decides it: your RBT certification from the BACB. The Arkansas Medicaid Provider Manual (Section II, § 202.300) says anyone delivering ABA therapy treatment as a technician must hold current Registered Behavior Technician certification, working under a BCBA who is enrolled with Arkansas Medicaid. No RBT, no Medicaid billing.

There’s a narrow on-ramp. If you’re still working through RBT training and testing, Arkansas Medicaid will treat you as provisional for up to six months. That’s a real deadline, not a soft target. If you haven’t certified by the end of that window, you’re barred from providing ABA therapy services until you do.

One thing to keep straight: Arkansas also created a new state credential in 2025 called the “Registered Behavior Analyst” registration, through the Arkansas Psychology Board. Despite the similar name, that one is for BCBAs and BCBA-Ds, not technicians. It doesn’t replace or substitute for your RBT certification.

What That Means for Your Paycheck

Because Medicaid won’t pay for sessions run by uncertified technicians, RBT certification is the line between billable and not. Practices need certified techs to bring in Medicaid revenue at all, which gives certified RBTs real standing when negotiating pay or hours.

Supervision rules also shape your day-to-day. Arkansas Medicaid caps a supervising BCBA at 12 RBTs/BCaBAs at a time, or a caseload requiring no more than 25 billable supervision hours a week, whichever is lower. You’re also entitled to real oversight, not just a signature: at least 5% of your treatment hours must be observed in person, plus one observed session every 30 days. And Medicaid caps any single clinician, RBT included, at 50 billable hours a week, which puts a hard ceiling on how many hours a practice can actually schedule you for.

Who is hiring RBTs in Arkansas?

The most active employers in recent postings are SpringBoard ABA, KIDS ABA Services, BlueSprig, Arkansas Children’s, Unity Health. The busiest hiring markets are Little Rock, Conway, Cabot, Fort Smith, Bentonville.

What is the career path from RBT?

RBT → BCaBA (bachelor’s-level, optional) → BCBA (master’s-level). Supervised fieldwork hours accumulated as an RBT count toward BCBA certification, which is why supervision quality matters as much as the wage when you compare offers.
